OBITUARY.

The death took place at the residence of her daughter, Mrs A. Cornford, Johnston Street, Foxton, of Mrs Celia Hall, aged 88 years. She was born in Wellington in 1845, her parents having arrived in the Dominion in January, 1841. The late Mrs Hall w'as married at Charleston, on the West Coast, where she resided for a short time until, with her husband, she returned to the North Island and took up her resi denee at Wanganui. She lived there until the death of her husband in 1890, when she removed to Palmerston North and there commenced maternity nursing, being a well-known resident of the city for many years. Later she went to live with her daughter at Marton and afterwards resided at Cheltenham, coming to Foxton to reside with her daughter twelve months ago. For some time she had been ailing, but her death, although expected, came somewhat suddenly on Sunday morning. She is surivved by a family of two sons and two daughters: Messrs Frederick Hall (Palmerston North) and Ernest Hall (Cambridge) and Mesdames Starke (Opunake), and A. Cornford (Foxton). One son, Harold, is thought to have died in Australia*. Mrs Lydia Styles, who resides with Mrs William Beattie, Wellington, and who is aged 91 years, is the only surviving member of the late Mrs Hall’s parents’ family. Tile funeral took place at Palmerston North. By a coincidence Mr Cornford lost his mother on Sunday also. He is a son of the late Mrs Fanny Cornford, the Wellington centenarian. Mrs C. Hunt, of Foxton, is a daughter. MRS ELIZABETH KATE WITHERS. The death took place at the Palmerston North Hospital on Saturday of a wellknown and respected Foxton resident in the person of Mrs Elizabeth Kate Withers, wife of Mr Bruce Withers, of Avenue Road. She was born in Rongotea in 1889 and married in Foxton whore she had since resided. She experienced ‘ ill-health since January last and entered the Palmerston North Hospital a short time ago for treatment. Mrs Withers failed to make any progress, however, and passed away on Saturday afternoon. She leaves a family of five sons and three daughters—Messrs Edward, Cyril, Victor, Leo and Anthony (Foxton), and Mrs F. Rickerby and Misses Kathleen and Phoebe Withers, of Foxton. The funeral took place at Foxton, the service at the graveside being conducted by Rev. Mr MacDonald. The pall-bearers were Messrs P. Easton, W. Richardson, L. Proctor, J. Mansfield, L. Fletcher, and E. Corlett.
