WOOL EASIER
AT WANGANUI SALE. LITTLE STYLISH QUALITY. Per Press Association WANGANUI, April 17. Compared with the last sale in Wanganui in February there is not much change to report in fleece wool at to-day’s sale. Any lots showing quality of the 60 count and above were slightly dearer, while rough, shoddy and coarse crossbreds were just a trifle easier. Pieces, bellies, etc., also showed a decline on the February values. Lambs’ wool, of -which there was a fair quantity offered, was decidedly easier, except possibly the very best lots free of seed and of good length and colour. There was not so keen a demand for Down -wool. Taking the general quality, of the wool offered into consideration the sale must be considered satisfactory. There was almost a total absence of really good stylish lots and most of the offering was of average grade, many showing seed and skirts. The catalogue submitted aggregated 25,000 bales. Compared with February, the market for wools of 48’s quality and over was from to 2d higher and medium and coarse crossbred from par to id higher. Southdown was lower than February rates by 2d to 3d per lb. With the stocks-of wool in the stores and growers’ sheds substantially reduced there should be more confidence in the future.
