BOXING AT NAPIER.
DONOVAN BEATS FRANKLIN. Per Press Association. NAPIER, April 16. The boxer Tommy Donovan. 9st 41b.. staged a comeback at Napier to-night when he defeated Franklin (Gisborne). 9st 51b., in a 15-round lightweight bout which went the full distance. From the beginning Donovan took the a <T(r ressive and scored repeatedly with lefts to Die head. He was also superior in in-fighting.: Franklin stood up to lieavv punishment. His powerful right leads to the head repeatedly went wide. The winner gained hearty applause from a large audience vlien the ficrlit was awarded in his favour. In a six-round professional contest FLunie (Petone) Bst Kill) mil boxed Richardson (Petone), 9st.. and gamed the decision after the contest went the full six rounds.
