A COSTLY SLEEP

A London lady who suffered from sleeplessness hired a taxi-cab at midnight and told the driver to go on until she stopped him. Unfortunately, she fell asleep, and awoke when the taxi-cab was at Oxford. The meter registered 695. The lady was indignant, and refused to pay, but tlie sequel came at the Guildhall Police Court when the Magistrate ordered her to pay the full fare of 69s and 17s 6d costs.
