Luncheon and afternoon tea were provided by the local ladies. Mr H. r itzherbert, on behalf of the visiting -.team, thanked To Arakura for the very enjoyable outing. Mr A. Clifford suitably responded. The Te Arakura Ping Pong Club held its opening night for the season last evening in the local schoolroom. There was a large attendance of members and several visitors. The evening passed quickly with the playing of a tournament. The semifinals were contested by Mr R. Tait and Mr E. Pringle, the latter winning after a close- game. Miss N. Price accounted for Miss C. Pentecost in the final for the ladies’ tournament. A _ delightful supper was served by the committee. Mr R. Sullivan thanked" all who had participated in making the evening such an enjoyable one. Ping pong will be held on Tuesday next instead of the usual Monday owing to the householders’ annual meeting being hold on that night. Miss Joyce Bennett, who recently underwent an operation, is making satisfactory progress.
