KOPANE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) KOPANE, April 10. Now the winter months are drawing near, football enthusiasts are preparing for the coming season. On Saturday afternoon the Awahuri Club held its first practice, when a strong Eeilding Old Boys’ team met the Awahuri seniors on the latter’s ground for a friendly practice game. Although the local team were strengthened by a large number of juniors a good game rosulted in a will for Old Boys by 14 points to 3. Tho first meeting of the Kopane Ladies’ Basketball Club was held in the school on Monday. Miss M. Pemiall was elected to the chair. Officors for the new year were elected as follow: —Mis 3 IV. J. JVlcMurray, president; Miss S. Parsons, secretary and treasurer; Miss E. Boddy, club captain; Miss W. J. McMnrray acting with the club captain, selector for tho team. The question of uniform was discussed, but it was decided to hold this matter in abeyance till the next mooting. At Miss Pennall’s suggestion it was decided to attempt to form an association of clubs in the vicinity, and it was left in Miss Pennall’s hands to convene a meeting of representatives and supporters.
