NORWEGIAN DISASTER
CRAG FALLS INTO FIORD. VAVES OVERWHELM VILLAGES. MANY LIVES LOST. [United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright.) OSLO, April 7. Forty, including a family of nine, vere killed when a huge crag crashed nto Korsnacs fiord, creating three tidal vaves which swept inland half a mile. Two small fishing villages were overvlielmed and the ground littered with lebris, houses and boats. It is feared hat other villages were also destroyed. A later message states that it is >elieved that over 50 are dead. Forty >odies have been recovered in the vilage of Tajford. There are only seven lurvivors in the village of Fjoeraa. The crag fell 6000 feet, causing cenes so terrible that an eye-witness leclared that people believed that the lay of Judgment had arrived. Thirty'oot waves hurled motor-boats and ither vessels against houses, many ccupants being trapped by the wreckige. A great column of flame arose t'hen the waves reached an electricity ransformer. A mother, with three children in her srms, climbed from a window on to he roof, but the rising waters swept ier away. The father, carrying a son, an up a little hill and held the boy ip at arms' length until he was subnerged. The child was saved, half .rowned. Residents dragged boats across the ountry and rowed in the darkness enrolling for survivors. The waters übsided within 25 minutes. The disister was the worst in Norway for 0 years.
