LINTON

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, April 3. On Monday night tho committee of the St. Colomba’s Anglican Church held a most enjoyable novelty dance. Many visitors from Palmerston North, Aokautere and Tokomaru were present. The music lor tho dances was supplied by the local orchestra, extras being played by Mrs J. Batchelar and Mr S. Greatorex. Items wero rendered by Miss Daisy Morgan and party . (instrumental and vocal), and Miss Nancy Edwards (dances). These were much appreciated. A dainty supper was handed round by a number of tne young church people. Rev. F. O. Ball toox tne opportunity to thank the people for thenattendance, also those who had helped to make • the evening a pleasant one. He distributed the prizes to tho winners of the uovelt.y dances, who wore as follow: Destiny dance, Mr W. Hunter, Aokautere; Gay Gordons, Miss Ruth Terry; baboon dance, Mr S. Tree and Miss N. llix; statue two-step, Mr F. Moody and Mrs C. 'fucker; Monte Carlo waltz, Mr F. Withers and Miss V. Morgan, Palmerston North; lucky chain waltz, Mr N. Greer and Miss G. Taylor, of Palmerston North; lucky door ticket, Mr Vellall, Palmerston North, and Miss Ngaire Davies; lucky teacup, Miss E. Curnn. Rev. Mr Zimmerman was also present. Mr J. Batchelar very c-ajably carried out the duties of M.C. The ice cream stall was in charge of Misses Mead and I. Rix.

Friends of Miss Jean Hallman will regret to learn of her admission to a private hospital at the beginning of this week, whore she underwent an operation. All wish her a speedy recovery. Miss Nancy Edwards, of Palmerston North, is spending a few days in Linton as the guest of Miss L. Rix. Mrs R. Wheeler, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs 0. Terry. Mrs Ellmers is the guest of her sistor Mrs O. Davies. Mr and Mrs H. Sutherland, of Petonc, were visitors to Mr and Mis Sutherland ir. Linton during the Easter Mr and Mrs R. Beckett and family spent Easter in Napier.
