EDUCATION BOARD.

TEACHING APPOINTMENTS. The monthly meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held yesterday afternoon, Mr E. F. Hemingway presiding. Others present were Colonel J. H. Whyte, Messrs M. H. Oram, A. S. Coleman, J. S. Tingey, W. Benefield, J. Aitken and R. DukeS °“Since the last meeting,” stated the chairman, “I have visited the ing schools with the secretary and Mr W. H. Swanger:—Wangaehu, Turakina, South Makirikiri, Mount View, Greatford Marton, Junction, Marton District High, Manchester Street, Lytton Street, Taonui, Bunnythorpe, Mount Biggs, San.w, Parewanui, Bulls, College Street, West End, Palmerston North Central, Hokowhitu, Terrace End, Russell Street and Milson’s Line. In the Marton district we were accompanied by Mr A. S. Coleman and in Palmerston North district by Colonel J. H. Whyte, to each of whom I am indebted for assistance. As in the case of the schools visited in other centres I found the buildings and grounds in every case in first-class order.”

The following resignations were accepted;—Mr W. H. Scott, headmaster, Ohingaiti; Miss E. L. Paterson, assistant, Ohingaiti; Miss E. C- Molloy, infant mistress, Durie Hill; Miss J. L. Gordon, relieving additional assistant, St. John’s Hill; Mr W. C. Wilson, headmaster, Lytton Street. Miss Molloy, who has been with the board for 28 years, and Mr AVilson, who has been with the board 17 years, are to be sent letters of appreciation. The following changes in the relieving appointments have been made during the month: —Miss K. Park, to assistant, Bunnythorpe, from Mangaweka; Mr E. A. Brown to sole teacher, Omutoha, from Tawhero; Miss I. Dummer to additional assistant, Lytton Street (new appointment); Miss H. Spring to additional assistant, Marton D.H., from Taikorea; Mr D. Blue to assistant, intermediate, from Putorino; Mr V. Moore to head teacher, Putorino, from Foxton D.H.; Miss U. Clapham to additional assistant, Palmerston North Central, from Mataroa; Miss F. Lewin to sol© teacher, Mangaonoho (new appointment); Miss V. Nicholls to sole teacher, Rapanui, from AVestmere.

The Linton School Committee were asked to supply more particulars regarding the conveyance of children to the school, and the cost. It was decided to request the department to convert the building adjacent to the Bainesse School into a "living house for a teacher. . Doing this would mean a saving to the department of £4O a year as allowance, it was stated. The question of providing a horse paddock for Foxton School was postponed until next meeting, owing to the expected report not being available.
