BO 4RD CHAIRMAN APPRECIATIVE. In recent weeks the chairman of the Wanganui Education Board (Mr E. F. Hemingway) made a comprehensive tour of inspection of the schools in the board’s area, in many cases expressing at the schools visited Ins gratification of the work being demonstrated by the committees. Since his return he has forwarded a circular letter to the schools inspected, expressing these sentiments. The Central School Committee, at its meeting last evening, received a copy of the communication. Mr Hemingway expressed appreciation of the valuable work carried out bv the committee on behalf of the children of the district . It had been a source of pleasure on his tour to find bo much' being done to make the schools and their surroundings brighter for the children. , „., . “People often wonder why Britain succeeds as a colonising nation, whilst others fail. The answer is to be found in the splendid work undertaken by men like yourselves for the country s sake without fee or reward Whilst thanking you in the name of the board for your self-sacrificing efforts, I can only hope that you and your committee will see your way clear to offer yourselves for re-election m a feu weeks’ time, when the election of school committees comes round, Mr Hemingway added.
