THE TIMOR RUMOUR.
ATTITUDE OF HOLLAND
Received March 13, 10.45 a.m. AMSTERDAM, March 12.
Arising out of the rumours of Britain’s projected purchase of the island of Timor, which is owned by the Dutch and Portuguese, Government circles emphasise that Holland does not intend to sell any colonial possessions. Moreover, if Portugal is willing to sell, she must, according to the Treaty of 1893, first offer the territory to Holland.
