THE MAJOR DOUGLAS SCHEME.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —In conjunction with many more,, the writer patiently awaited an explanation of the above-named scheme which would remedy the existing state of affairs, socially, politically and financially, but as one political student who attended the Palmerston North meeting put it, he was grievously disappointed with the whole text of the address, which consisted of a long rambling statement, comprising old time-worn platitudes, all of which lacked finality. The speaker skilfully avoided giving any direct answer to any important questions put to him, being an adept in the art of evasion. Apparently the Parliamentary Committee at the conference had to endure the same experience, judging by the Press reports, and we are left to work out our own destiny, so far as is concerned the national credit system, as advocated by Major Douglas, and his worthy friend, Captain Rushwortli, M.P., who piloted the speaker around the Dominion hoping to create a sensation, but failed lamentably as did the Major in the Commonwealth when engaged on the same mission.—l am, etc., H. J. CANTON.
