FEILDING

SWIMMING CARNIVAL.

COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Cold weather marred the attendance of both the public and the swim-: mers at tlie carnival conducted at the Feilding Municipal Baths, last night, by the Feilding Amateur Swimming Club in aid of the funds of the Manawatu Centre. A beautifully fine and warm afternoon declined into a very wintry night and the attendance of the public was consequently one of the smallest yet seen at a swimming carnival in Feilding. Several heats in the events had to be merged into one, while later, in the finals, several of the placed competitors in the heats withdrew, leaving in some instances but two or three finalists.

The re-organisation of the programme occasioned by the defections of so many entrants caused unavoidable delay, but generally the sports were got off well.
