MODEL ENGINEERING SOCIETY.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Model Engineering Society was held on March 5, Mr Smith presiding over a good attendance of members. On account of short notice, no intending members were present. On displa.y at the meeting was the handsome model challenge shield, for competition between the Wellington Club and other interested clubs. This shield has been sent to Wellington where it will l>e featured at the forthcoming Winter Show. New members were elected as follow : —Dr. Ward was elected an honorary member and a vice-president, and Master N. Kirk, of Feilding, a junior member. Members of the club are working hard on a railway track and equipment, which it is hoped will be ready tor the Manawatu A. and P. Association’s Winter Show. The club is sending to Wellington a number of models for competition for the shield. The Wellington Club wrote inviting members of the Palmerston North Club to visit them at Easter. However, it was found tha.t only one or two members may be making the visit. It was resolved that a letter of appreciation be sent to the Wellington Club, and to ask them to appoint a steward for the Palmerston North Club to act for them at the Challenge Shield competition. The secretary proposed that the matter of revising the model section classes at the coming Manawatu Show be gone into at an early date, otherwise the A. and P. Association would have their schedule ovft a.nd it would be too late. Any recommendations had to he sent in as soon as possible, to enable them to go before the committee. During the meeting Mr Smith moved that an assistant secretary be appointed to relieve the secretary of pressure of work. Mr Sigley was appointed to this positibn.
