APITI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) APITI, March 12. The final match for Hon. J. G. Cobbo’s rose bowl was fired at the Apiti range at 300 and 600 yards. Rifleman E. G. Buckman proved the winner of the trophy for this season. Mr W. McKay presided over a meeting of the War Memorial Committee. Tho unveiling is to take place on Anzac Day. Hon. J. G. Cobbo has announced his intention of being present. A meeting of the School Committee was presided over by Mr PI. Wildboro (chairman). Messrs Benseman and Wildbore gave an interesting report of the Mana-watu-Oroua School Committees’ Association. The committee decided to have electric light installed in the Technical School. Suitable pictures are also to be framed for tho school rooms. Friday, March 23rd, is the date selected for the annual picnic and sports. The teacher stated that the roll number now stood at 74.

Mrs J. Hamilton, of Wanganui, is visiting her daughter, Mrs N. Gould. Mrs A. H. McNae is visiting her mother, Mrs It, Hooper. Mrs A. Viles, of Marton Biock, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Miss H. Rolfc, of Dargaville, is on holiday with Mrs R. Hooper. Quito a number of chimneys were shaken down by the earthquake, while others will have to bo demolished. Considerable damage among crockery and preserves is also reported.
