(From Our Own Correspondent.) COLYTON, March 12.
The annual meeting of Colyton Women’s Institute was held 'luesday afternoon at the Colyton Hall and was well attended. The election of officers was decided by vote, Mrs Mathews and Miss M. Shortall acting as scrutineers. 1 The result was as follows: President, Mrs Beatson (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mrs Thurston and Miss Pearce; secretary and treasurer, Miss B. Jefferies (re-elected) ; comrnittce, Mesdames G. Parker, J. Shortall, N Shortall and Miss J. Burr (all reelected), and Mesdames Sporlo and Bussell and Misses Hansen and W. Wales. Mrs Bcatson thanked the retiring committee and all who assisted throughout the year in helping to make the monthly meetings enjoyable. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Beatson and Miss Jefferies for the way in which they had carried out their duties as president and secretary respectively. The report and bfl.nlancc* sheet was presented, showing an very satisfactory credit balance of £9. The report referred to a very interesting and enjoyable season. It was decided that members show exhibits in the Feilding flower show. Mrs Sporle and Miss B. Williamson, of Feilding, and IVlisses B. Jefferies and O. Hansen, of Colyton, will be in charge of the entries. During the afternoon interesting items were contributed by Mrs T. A. Smith (piano) and Miss C. McLeod (vocaL solos), and an interesting competition, dressing a peg with crepe paper, was won bv Mrs Knight. An impromptu roll call was “What 1 Did During the Earthquake and it caused no little amusement, while community singing was also much enjoyed A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses', Mrs J. Edhouse and Misses Murphy.
