Although the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting is only three days off, the solitary visitors yet on the scene are Lordly Knight and Belibroney, and it is not expected that there will bo any more arrivals till tne eve of the fixture. Tho weather conditions this morning were as bleak as in the depths of winter, and after overnight rain the track was easy. It will take a lot more rain than is likely to fall during the next few days, however, to seriously ahect tho going, but tlicro is little'present prospect ot a hard track. Red Sun, picked up by Normandy at the six turlongs post, ran seven furlongs pleasingly drawing past his mate near the post to win the trial by half a length in 1.29 i, the last six furlongs being done in 1.16£ and the last had mile in 51 1-5. Red Sun s Thompson Handicap rider will bo G. Duncan. Epigram yas matched with Lordly Knight over six furlongs and he lett his companion in the final iurlong to win with the utmost ease by lour lengths in 1.16, the last half mile in 51 2-6. Epigram’s Thompson Handicap rider will bo vV. J. Broughton, as K. Voitre is required for Red Manfred. To Uu, who looks to have improved with his last week’s race, traversed seven furlungs, well ’within himself, m 1.52. Palm Queen drew away in the straight to beat Meiisande and Cape Fair easily over a mile in 1.46 j, the last half taking 55sec. Palm Queen and Meiisande are both to start in the St. Leger, but no riders are yet engaged. , Bay Area was beaten by a neck by Roderick Dhu over six funongs in 1.J.8, the last halt mile taking 50sec. Lovocourtwlio is backward alter a iet-up, was badly tailed off. Pegged Exchange, another who has done little recent work, came down, from the three furlongs post in 58jsec. Choral was going easily three lengths in front of Misfire at tho end of half a mile run in 51 l-ssec and she is an improving youngster. Belibroney easily beat Lyrical by several lengths over six turlongs in 1.18, the last halt mile in 52sec. No gaiioping companion tvaa available for Autopay, who was allowed to go round under a hold the reverse way. irle showed that he is fit by running irom the winning post to the seven furlongs mark in 1.54, and had he been required lie could have registered good figures. D. O Connor is once again to be on him in the Thompson Handicap. . . Among the horses to do serviceable tasks were Purse, Quebec, Vitaphone, Colossical, Lackston, Morbury and Rulate.
