TURF IN AUSTRALIA. CAULFIELD RACES.

MELBOURNE, Feb. 24. At the Caulfield races the following were tho results:— Alma Stakes.—First Division: Dark Sky, 9.0 (Daniels), 1; Generous, 7.3, 2; Queen Helen, 8.5, 3. Sixteen started. Time, 1.13. Second Division: Bombus, 9.0 (Munro), 1; Spartan, 8.6, 2; Mimch, 7.5, 3. Sixteen started. Time, 1.134. Woodcliff Handicap.—Man at Arms, 7.7 (Elliott), 1; Sea Rover, 7.11, 2; Yal Rose, 7.0, 3. Nineteen started. The winner was a complete outsider. Time, 2.184. FUTURITY STAKES. WALTZING LILY, 9.10 (Cook) ... 1 CLOSING TIME, 9.7 (Bartlo) 2 ICUVERA, 9.8 (Munro) 3 Elevrji started. Staghorn led from _ the start, but soon gave place to Closing Time. Half a mile from tho post Lelite was in command and led into the straight from Closing Time, , Hcros and Whittingham. -In the run home Waltzing Lily came fast, followed by Kuvera, to win by a length and a half, with Kuvera a length and a quarter away. Whittingham was fourth. Time, 1.24ij. Stanley Plato.—Woodbine, 7.11 (Elliott), 1; Blue Shot, 8.6, 2; Frimsel, 8.6, 3. Fourteen started. PIKE INJURED.

Tho iockoy, J. Pike, was thrown when riding Fcrndale in a division of the Alma Stakes. He suffered a bruised shoulder and shock, and was unable to ride in the Futurity Stakes or in later races. Air Queen broke down in tho Stanley Flato. The veteran jockey, R. Lewis, is ill, but is improving. He will be unable to ride at Flcmington. J. A. Phillips has purchased Prismatic.
