WOODVILLE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) WOODVILLE, Jan. 24. Mr and Mrs S. Haigh, of Woodville, are visiting Mangaweka. Mr and Mrs C. J'. Bolton are on a holiday trip to Tauranga. Approximately 1100 sheep were yarded at the fortnightly sale conducted by Messrs 'Abraham and Williams, Ltd., at tho Woodville yards on Tuesday. The bidding was spirited and tho prices very firm. A total clearance was effected. There was a largo attendance of buyers. The price list was as follows: Small wether lambs, 9s to 12s 6d; b.f. lambs, 14s 3d to 16s 2d; 5-year ewes, 14s to 18s; shorn b.f. lambs, small, 10s to 12s; good shorn b.f. lambs, 13s to 14s 6d. In addition, several head of cattle were brought under the hammer. A meeting of the District High School Committee was held on Monday, Mr R. R. Johnston presiding. In stating the reason for altering the date of the school picnic at Packakariki to February 6, tho chairman said that at the time tho date was fixed it was thought that the school would reopen on January 30. However, the holiday had been extended over that week and February 6 was tho only date available. Arrangements were well in hand. Tho fares would be the same as last year.
