BOXING.

Mr Albert Charles Baylis, who was known among followers of boxing as “Yank Pearl,” died at a Sydney hospital recently after an operation for appendicitis. The late Mr Baylis was born at Ashburton, New Zealand, 47 years ago. He went to Australia at an early age. He participated in boxing contests in Sydney, and his ring name was originally Albert Pearl. Mr Baylis bad been referee at Leichhardt Stadium for seven years; he also acted at Balmain Stadium. As a teacher of boxing, ho had many famous pupils. He is survived by Mrs Baylis and three daughters.
