JAPANESE INVADERS.

“MENACE TO ABORIGINES.” “The Japanese who visit the shores and islands of the Gulf of Carpentaria and the Northern Territory are a menace to the natives,” said Rev. Robert H. Wilson, who has been a Presbyterian missionary on Mornington Island, Gulf of Carpentaria, for 15 years, and who is now visiting Brisbane. Mr Wilson said it was true that the lower class of white man caused a good deal of trouble by interfering with the aboriginals, but the source of danger was the visiting Japanese. These people knew much more about northern Australia than did Australians, and it. was time the Federal Government instituted some form of patrol. The suggested patrol by aeroplane would appear to be the best system. The Japanese had low standards so far as some of the aboriginals were concerned, and they illtreated aboriginal women in such a way that they aroused the anger of the aboriginal men. Then the natives wreaked vengeance on the first white man who came along.
