Mr Moore, of Rangiuru, who recently had the misfortune to be struck in the eye with a piece of box-thorn, has been under treatment by a specialist in Palmerston North, but, unfortunately, the sight of the eye could not be saved. A fire was started on the native land near the golf, links on Friday night, and in a brief space tho flames spread over a large area, destroying grass, lupins, etcl, and endangering farms. For the Brandon Rose Bowl,. Mrs Gillispie beat Mrs Kilmister, while for the Richards Cup, Mrs Morgan beat Mrs Shaw. The platter, however, beat Mrs Hagan.
