Dalgety and Coy., Ltd., report:—There was a smaller yarding of both tat and store sheep at the market yesterday, and this creatod a good demand in the fat section, and there was a slight firming in price. The store sheep section was very mixed in quality, but sold firmly at late rates. Sevoral consignments of good bullocks wero penned, but failed to attract buyers, tho majority being passed at auction. There was a fair yarding of dairy beef, which sold firmly at lato rates, and in the store section there was quite a fair yarding of young Polled Angus cattle. There was a good demand for young run cattle, and prices were fully maintained. In tho dairy section tho penning was small, and met with a slack sale. We quote: —Fat shorn ewes, lls, Is lid; fat hoggets, 225; 2th wethers, 14s 6d, 16s Id; 2th ewes, 19s 9d; ewe hoggets, 275. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report;— Fat sheep: An exceptionally light yarding of these came forward and consequently a keen sale resulted with a complete clearance in all sections, prices obtained for far ewes hardening to the extent of Is to Is 6d per head on last week’s sale. A smali yarding of store sheep came forward and here again we report a buoyant salo with a good clearance, it being quite evident the supply was short of the demand. Fat cattle: A heavy yarding came forward with seme nice pens of fat P.A. bullocks. Those met a dragging sale, practically no -sales being effected. Dairy bred fat cows were koeniy competed for with a good clearance and prices satisfactory to vendors. Run bred cattle were penned in average numbers and we report quite a good sale, prices being well up to recent rutos. Dairy cattle were short of supply and this department showed very little, variation on recent rates.
