CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
ANNIVERSARY CONCERT. Tile anniversary celebrations of the Emmanuel Congregational Sunday school were brought to a close last evening, when the scholars and a number of parents were entertained at tea in the schoolroom. Alter tea, games were played until 7.30, when the liall was crowded tor the anniversary concert and prize-giving. Rev. C. G. llediey Bycrolt presided and a very enjoyahie programme was presented liy the scholars. The programme was as follow :—Anniversary. hymn, School; recitation, “March Marigolds,” Doreen Bycroft; song, “O, Carol Children,” Trevor Singh; character song, “The Baby,” Miss Laing’s'class; recitation, Mrs Stout, senr.; song, “Sunbeam,” Odlin Trio; recitation, Jim Keily; character song, “The Train,” Miss Laing’s class; dialogue. Miss Tweeddales class; duet and chorus, Nesta Bradlield and Arolia Kelly; sketch, Miss Bycroft’s class; song, “My Task,” Mary Laing; recitation, Juno Dennan; song, "Heaps o’ Lickins,” Oiarrie Ludlow; recitation, Ziila Finch; sketch, Miss Bycroft's class; recitation, Mr Stout, senr. The chairman expressed the pleasure of the school in having the presence of Mr and Mrs Stout, senr., and of hearing their voices once again. Mrs Bycroft presented the prizes to the scholars and Mrs Page, on behalf of the school, made a presentation to Mr Marcus Leet, an old scholar, who was married during the year. Joyce Singh also presented Mrs Lyon with a beautiful posy of flowers as a token of appreciation for the time spent in training the children for the concert. The school has made much progress during the year, and the anniversary celebrations this year were among the best in its history.
