It had been reported that General Andre, French Minister for War, had discovered two forgeries in the Dreyfus dossier of such a nature that they must have contributed to the conviction of Dreyfus, said a Paris message. It had also been ascertained that 100 documents tending to his acquittal had been withheld from the Court. Consideration was being given to whether the case should be re-opened. The last vessel of the Spanish fleet sunk in Manila Harbour on May 1, 1898, had been raised. The flagship, the Reina Christina, was to be used as a collier. The Spanish ships did not show marks of shot or shell near or below the water line. The Spaniards liad burned their ships rather than allow them to fall into the hands of the. American fleet. Mr Norman Campbell Had bought 10,000 acres of bush at the back of Shannon and was erecting a mill to cut the timber which was mostly rimu. The mill was at the foot of the range and it was Mr Campbell’s intention to haul the timber up the hills in chutes with the aid of wire ropes.
