EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” DECEMBER 1, 1903. Acceptances for the Feilding Racing Club’s meeting showed an average of 16 horses for each, of seven races, there being 112 entrants for the day’s programme. A steamship company was advertising that the trip from Auckland to Sydney could be made in three days, and that to London in 27 days. The Government had decided to offer a bonus of £SOO for the discovery of a cheap and effective method of destroying noxious weeds, which were reported to be increasing in the colony. The Premier had said that it was necessary to take steps at once for the eradication of the weeds. Tile scholars of the Broad Street Methodist Sunday school had celebrated the anniversary of their school. Rev. H. Dewsbury, of Wanganui, was the preacher. Mr F. J. Chisholm was the conductor of the choir, and Mr Richardson presided at the organ.
