MR KIMBELL FAREWELLED. Per Press Association. WELLINTGON, Nov. 30. Appreciation of the good service rendered by the retiring Under-Secre-tary of Mines, Mr A. H. Kimbell, was expressed at a farewell gathering at the Department ’ of Mines to-day. On behalf of the staff, the Minister of Mines (Hon. C. E. Macmillan) presented Mr Kimbell with a gold cigarette lighter and a handbag for Airs Kimbell. Replying, Air Kimbell said the public had not appreciated as it should the excellent work done by the department. In 1919, when he had joined the department, 600 letters and telegrams had been dispatched; in 1J32 this number had grown to 2100. yet the staff, which in 1919 had numbered 127, with salaries totalling £23,880, was now 69, with salaries £17,276.
