An increase of £l3O in stakes is offered by the Manawatu Racing Club for its summer meeting at Awapuni on December 26 27 and 29, tho sum to be distributed being £3410. The principal event, the Manawatu Cup, which is decided on the opening day over 1£ miles, carries a stake of £4OO. Most of the other events have small increases of from £5 to £25. On tho second day the President s Handicap, which is worth £250, or £2O more than ’last year, is tho principal attraction. On the final day the Liverpool Handicap, 9 furlongs, carries the same stake as heretofore (£200). There is a highweight event each day, but no hurdles. Nominations for the meeting, including the first forfeit for tho Palmerston North Stakes, close at 9 p.m. on . December 4 and the weights will appear on December 12.
