OBITUARY
MR T. H. HOPCROFT. Failing to recover from an operation at a private hospital in Wellington, Mr T. H. Hopcroft, of Pongaroa, passed away suddenly last Sunday. The late Mr Hopcroft, was born at Riverton 50 years ago and served his apprenticeship with the' Edendale and Aparima dairy factories in the South Island, before coming to the North Island where he joined the Hawera Dairy Coy. and later the Joll Coy. with which firm he held an executive position. Twenty-five years ago the deceased gentleman went to the Weber district as manager of the Weber Dairy Coy., and after seven years with that company he interested himself in the formation of the Pongaroa Dairy Coy. He then commenced a successful carrying and contracting business in which he was engaged at the time of his death. The sympathy of Ins many friends will bo extended to his widow and family of four who survive him. Deceased was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, and at the time of his. death a member of the Ponganoa Hospital Committee. Messrs A. J. Hopcroft of Normanby. and W. 11. Hopcroft, of Palmerston North, are brothers of the deceased gentleman. MR A. E. JOHNS. The death occurred at the Palmerston North Hospital on Wednesday, of Mr Arthur Ernest Johns, of Arapaepae Road, Levin. The deceased gentleman, who had not enjoyed good health for some time, became seriously ill a few days ago. He was born in London 35 years ago, and came to New Zealand about 17 years later. At one time he was manager in Levin of the business of Messrs Humphreys and Andrews’, but during the last few years he was poultry farming on his own account. He is survived by Ins widow and three young children.
