HOROWHENUA
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Nov. 29. A meeting of AH Saints’ vestry was held at the Parish Hall on Monday night. Rev. F. S. Ramson, the vicar, presiding. A vote of thanks was passed to the members of the Ladies’ Guild on their recent effort, they having raised a substantial sum as the result of the sale of work. Thanks were also accorded to the ladies who had successfully arranged and supervised socials, Miss Allen (secretary) being especially mentioned. It was reported that as the result of a children’s entertainment at the Station Church the sum of about £2 would be handed over to the funds. Thanks were accorded the organisers. As the result of the recent socials a sum of about £4O was raised.
On account of there being no business to transact, the Otaki Licensing Committee will not meet on Friday next. An organ has been presented to the Otaki Health Camp by Lodge Horowhcnua (Levin). Church services are frequently held at the Health Camp. A motor lorry crashed into a small bridge noar Te Horo on Saturday night with the result that the structure was badly damaged. A large number of Otaki and district Natives left to-day for Levin to take part in the tangi over the remains of Mr Rero Nekitini.
Rev. F. S. Ramson, who has suffered an injury to his knee for the past three years, is receiving treatment in Wellington. Mr and Mrs G. Banks returned yesterday from a trip to Hawke’s Bay.
