(By “Binocular.”) Del rain demonstrated on the second day at Avondale that he is coming back to his bent form, and he should race prominently at the Takapuna meeting. Ellerslie reports mention that the Chief Ruler three-year-old Solomon is gradually moulding into fine racing shape. High Crest, a full-sister to On Top and Versant, showed marked promise in her initial outing at To Rapa, and she should be heard trom in the near luture. Ruri is stated to have not been handled to the best advantage on the opening day at Te Rapa. He is bearing a very bright appearance at present and will have friends at his next appearance. Sillon 8., claimed to the largest in the world, died suddenly at Waterloo, jS’ew York State, recently. He stood 21 hands, weighed 27 stone, and measured 9ft to the top of his neck. Coronilla has joined J. H. Jefferd’s team at N'gatarawa. The mentor has had some of Mr Lowry’s horses for some and won with Courtyard and Senior at the Hastings meeting. Rhea, who carried the colours of Mr A. 0. Abbott, of Carterton, has been sent down to the West Coast and .will be prepared for the holiday racing. Rhea has shown a fair turn of speed on occasion. Riccarton reports state that Tout lo Monde has made a good recovery. He has resumed full training, but he will not be taken north to the Auckland meeting, it having been decided to race him nearer home. Streamline, the two-year-old half-brother by Day Comet to Fast Passage, is .stated to be developing into a massive colt, and he has not been called upon for. anything serious as yet. The two-year-old Friday Night is a. regular track visitor at Riccarton. His tasks have been light, but it is intended to increase them from this onward. He is a solidly-built youngster with a very lazy disposition. It is understood that the Now Zealand Cup meeting and the Auckland spring fixture will not clash in future. The adjustment in dates will bo welcomed by all interested in the sport. Sunny Bachelor competed at the Auckland summer meeting and at the Takapuna meetings without gaining a place. Following upon his return to Gisborne he scorod at Napier Park and at the winter fixture of the Poverty Bay Club. Last month he won on the second day at the spring meeting. He is down to competo at Takapuna on Saturday. Boaconsfield, whom G. W. New had sent across to him in Victoria last month, had his first race in Australia in the Welter Purse at Caulfield on November 18. Ho was backed down to equal favourite with Knocktcmplo, but failed to gain a place after being the leader for six furlongs. An option of purchase at 2000 guineas has been secured over the three-year-old filly Gay Sheila, who has won at each of her four starts this season. Gay Sheila is a bay filly by Gay Shield from Lady Marie, and her winnings to date total £1350. The option is held for a fortnight by an Australian owner.
