MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Major J. T. Bosworth and Mr W. L. Black, J.P.’s, presided at a sittiug of the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Harry Collins was charged with breaking and entering at Linton, on November 28, the residence of Samuel Irvine and stealing therefrom a dock, a fur and tea and sugar of a total value of £3 ss. Accused is a seaman, 55 years of age and a native of England. Senior-Detective Quirke asked for a remand until Monday next, which yas granted. Joseph Edward Blake, alias Frederick Hayward, a labourer, aged 55, was charged with being and idle and disorderly person at Palmerston North ton November 29, in that he had not sufficient visible means of support. A similar charge was preferred against John Burns ■ Tanner, a labourer, 46 years of age. Mr Quirke said that nothing much was known against the two men. They had been noticed in suspicious circumstances hea.r Linton and arrested at Shannon. He asked that each should be given a chance. Both were convicted and discharged.
