(From Our Own Correspondent.) HOROWHENUA, Nov. 24. Mrs Bryant (Manakau) and Mrs Nicholson (Levin) leave on Monday for Featherston to take part in tho croquet tournament to be held there. As the result of an afternoon’s entertainment by children at the Anglican Hall, Otaki Railway, on Wednesday, the sum of nearly £3 was raised. A light shock of earthquake was felt in Otaki and district at 9.25 on Wednesday night. , A frost on Wednesday morning was tho means of cutting the tender growths of vegetables, etc. There is still a quantity of snow on the hills. Mesdames Gillispie, Kilmister, Bradnock, Warnock, Cobb, and Wilson, of tho Municipal Croquet Club, journeyed to Lovin yesterday to take part in tho interclub matches. They met Shannon, who proved victorious. Members will journey to Palmerston North on December 7 to take part in further inter-club games. Playing for the rose bowl, Mrs Kilmister defeated Mrs Bradnock, but later was defeated by Mrs Wilson. The first of a series of evening sports for this year was held on the Domain on Wednesday.
