A very closely contested tennis match was played on the local courts on Saturday between Whakarongo and Taonui and resulted in a- draw in sete, the home team winning by only five games. Results are as follow, the Taonui players being mentioned first: —Ladies' singles: Miss Heard lost to Miss Vaittier, 6—7; Miss Bongo lost to Miss M. Vautier, 4—7; Miss Giant lost to Mrs li>gers 2—7; .Miss Chcotham lost to Mrs Oxenham, 2-7. Men’s singles: D. Dune beat L. Little, 7-5; B. Tait beat W. Vautier, 7—4; N. Waugh beat S o icr *- liam, 7—5; I. Durie beat R. Gibbs, 7—3. Ladies’ doubles: Misses Heard and Benge lost to Misses C. and M. Vautier, 4—7; Misses Grant and Cheetham lost to Mrs Eggors and Mrs Oxenham, 2—7. Mens doubles: D. Durie and B. Tait lost to L. Little and W. Vautier, 5—7; N. Waugh and I. Durie lost to S. Oxenham and K. Gibbs, 5—7. Mixed doublet?: Miss Heard and D. Durie beat Miss Vautier and L. Little, 7—3; Miss M. Benge and B. Tait beat Miss M. Vautier and W. Vautier, 7 5- Miss Grant and N.
