ATHLETIC RECORDS.
RECOGNITION BY UNITED STATES. Received November 21, 12.35 p.m. PIjITSB URGH (Pennsylvania), Nov. 20. The Amateur Athletic Union of the United States on Monday will recom-, mend the recognition of 140 records in track, field, swimming and gymnastic events, including Lovelock’s (New Zealand) mile which was run in 4min. 7 3-ssecs., defeating Brontliron, the crack Princeton miler, at the Oxford - Cambridge - Princeton-Coronejl track meet during the summer. A resolution was passed calling on the International Olympic Committee to inform Germany that unless German Jewish athletes are permitted to train and prepare for and participate in the Olympic Games in 1936 at' Berlin, United States athletes will not participate. The union also adopted the report of the track and field committee urging the retention of the metric system for running events for its track and field championships.
