A modification of the provision of the Companies Bill limiting the choice of auditors, except with th© special approval of th© Minister of Finance, to members of three accountants’ organisations, is considered almost certain to be accepted by the Government when th© committee stag© of th© Bill is taken in the House of Representatives this week. The Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, delayed this stage of the Bill for a fortnight in order that interested parties might make representations on some of the controversial clauses. Though the Bill in general is based on English company law, there is no similar provision restricting the choice of auditors in the Imperial Act.
