HIMATANGI-RANGIOTU HIGHWAY.

COMPLETION OF SEALING. Early in January work will commence on the sealing of the final .strip of 6J miles of the Himatangi-Rangiotu highway, the Manawatu County Council’s call for tenders for the work closing at the end of this month. A 6tart with the sealing is expected to be made about January 8. It is anticipated that about three months will see the work completed and the treatment of this 6j-mile stretch of highway will give a sealed surface between Palmerston North and Wellington with the oxoeption of the portion of about 1£ miles at the Whirokino bridge. The type of road to be laid down is what is known as “mix-in-place”-sealing, and the County Council has already delivered nearly 3000 yards of metal to the road in readiness for the contractors.
