MORTGAGORS’ RELIEF
FARMERS’ UNION OPINION. Per Press Association. MASTERTON, Nov. 20, Reporting to the provincial exeeuj tive of the Farmers’ Union to-day the i secretary (Mr James Watson) refer- ! ring to the Mortgagers’ Relief Com- [ mission, said that the requirements of a mortgage could not be ignored in favour of the mortgagor, but there was an ever-increasing tendency on the part of the Courts to refuse the relief recommended by a Commission. It was this course of action which had prompted the members of the Wellington Adjustment Commission to retire to their homes as a protest, wherefore the president immediately telegraphed to the Minister of Justice asking for speedy and sympathetic settlement of the difficulty. The president’s action was endorsed, Mr Hugh Morrison stating that he had been careful not to come between the Commission and the Court.
