LEVY SUPPORTED.

WOOL IMPROVEMENT SCHEME.

GISBORNE, Nov. 20

The Poverty Bay Farmers’ Union on Saturday afternoon reversed its previous decision and decided unanimously to support the Government’s sheep and wool improvement scheme. On former occasions the union had approved the principle of wool research, but had considered that- the work should be financed from the Meat Board’s surplus funds. When the question was reopened it was pointed out by various speakers that the Dominion’s clips were not only going back, but in addition the demand to-day was for finer wool. The motion to support legislation enabling a levy to be imposed was carried without dissent.
