MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Per Press Association. ELTHAM Nov. 21. Two men were convicted at Eltliam for theft of seven “bobby” calves. Ernest Edward Smith, of Stratford, a drover, against whom there were previous Convictions for theft, was sentenced to five months’ hard labour, and David Reardon, of Manaia, a carrier, to probation for two years. It was stated in Court that companies handling “bobby” calves bad suffered heavy losses throughout Taranaki during the past season through animals being stolen when en route to the freezing works.
