STALEMATE VOTE

ELECTIONS IN SPAIN. VARIOUS FACTORS INCENSED. SEVERAL MINISTERS DEFEATED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received November 21, 9.55 a.m. MADRID, Nov. 20. Candidates elected in the general election include all of Senor de Rivera s Fascist Deputies, Senor Barreto, director of a Fascist newspaper, also Count Romanones and the Premier, Dr Barrios, while those defeated are Senor Albornez (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Senor Avello (Minister of the Interior) and Senor Feced (Minister 'of Agriculture). Thus far 215 out of 473 seats have been filled. The election appears to have ended in a stalemate. The Socialists, Communists and Extremists are incensed at the verdict, some declaring that a revolution is still coming and that they will fight it out in the streets if the election decision is adverse. It is officially stated that owing to the confused situation advance intimations of the elections returns are impossible. A second ballot is necessary in 35 of the total 49 provinces. Apparently the Conservatives are level in Madrid and the Radicals are far behind, but even here a second count on December 3 will probably be necessary, as it is uncertain whether any candidate obtained 40 per cent, of the votes necessary for election. Meanwhile each party claims victory based on purely artificial figures. The estimates of the state of the parties must bo purely conjectural. There is tension throughout Spain and many have been killed and wounded. Cabinet has discussed methods for maintaining order, as it is feared the Socialists are preparing a revolutionary general strike. The general belief, based on reports at midnight, was that the Right Wing, embracing the moderate forces, had been triumphant owing to the women’s votes. Right Wing victories are expected in at least twenty-five provincial capitals. . , , . Official returns covering nearlv halt
