WEDDING
LAUGESEN—RAINFORTH
On Saturday, October 28, a very pretty wedding took place at Cuba Street Methodist Church, Palmerston North, when Ena, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Rainforth, “Somerfield,” Awapuni, was married to Keith, eldest son of Mr and Mrs L. E. Laugesen, of Riccarton, Christchurch. Rev. H. L. Richards was the officiating minister. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride with arum lilies and guelder roses.
The bride looked charming as she entered the church on her father’s arm, wearing a graceful frock of ivory satin and silk all-over lace, with large puffed elbow sleeves and flared skirt. Her veil, which had belonged to her grandmother, was of Honiton lace, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of lily of the valley, white lilac, and maidenhair fern.
The bridesmaid was Miss Joyce Rainforth, sister of the bride. Her frock of crinkled satin was of a rich gold colour, with diamond-shaped inlets of the reversed material, and she wore on her head a bandeau ot gold velvet finished on one side with a tiny cluster of forget-me-nots. Her bouquet was of forget-me-nots, irises and wallflowers.
Mr Don Laugesen, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. While the register was being signed Miss Griffin sang “Love’s Coronation.” After the ceremony the bride’s parents received their guests at their residence “Somerfield,” where the gardens with their many flowering trees and shrubs in bloom made a charming picture. Mrs Rainforth wore a frock of black crinkled silk relieved with white, and a wide black hat, and carried a bouquet of rosecoloured tulips and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom’s mother wore a Lido blue ensemble and hat to tone; her bouquet was of blue and gold irises and maidenhair fern. Later in the afternoon the bride and bridegroom left by car for the north, the bride travelling in a becoming brown and cream ensemble with a cream Bankok straw hat, and a brown coat trimmed with ermine.
Sir and Mrs Keith Laugesen will make their home in Christchurch.
