KING DISAPPOINTED
HORSE’S PERFORMANCE
“Good luck, Joe!” shouted the Prince of Wales as the King’s jockey, Childs, mounted Limelight, the favourite for the Cambridgeshire, at Newmarket. Rut Limelight was extinguished by his own obstinacy.
He balked in the ea.rly stages, was unable to come through on the rails, and had to run wide. He finished fast, but had no chance of catching Raymond, and was placed fourth, disillusioning thousands of punters. The King watched the race through glasses, which he dropped when Limelight’s defeat" was certain. He then turned smilingly, and make a remark to the Queen, who patted his hand sympathetically.
