Duno Diekhoier, aged 36, a German, was fined £3681 for defrauding the Customs of £1275 by importing Geiman mechanical lighters without paying duty. . , The prosecution characterised the offence as an abuse of British hospitalThe lighters were received in Dublin and smuggled to Ulster, hidden in the seats of motor cars, and thence taken to London. , . ~ Dickhofer also delrauded the tree State Customs. The Magistrate recommended Dickhofer’s deportation, but the defence pleaded that he was not desirous of returning to Germany for political reasons.
