OBITUARY.
SIR JOHN H. BILES. Received October 28. 9.55 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 27. The death is announced of Sir John Haward Biles, K.C.1.E., LL.D., D.Sc., M.1.C.E., M.Soc. Nav. Arch. (U.S.A.), the naval architect. Sir John Harvard Biles, who was born at Portsmouth in 1854, had a remarkable career as an architect. He had professionally visited India, Australia, the United States, Cannda, Japan and China, besides nearly all the European countries. He served on Board of Trade and Admiralty committees and performed valuable service in the construction of river craft for the Expeditionary Force in Mesopotamia in the war years.
