WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.
YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. There was a fairly active market yesterday on the Wellington Stock Exchange, with a bettor volume of trading, some sales being recorded; A slightly firmer | tone was apparent. . Government loans j were fairly strong, with more sellers showI ing. Slight gains wore recorded by several issues. The 4 per cent, stocks, 1946, had dealings at £lOl 7s 6d and £lOl 15s. 111- | vestors continued to show much interest ill local body and other debentures, (quoted prices being firm. Banks 'were | better yesterday, gains boing made in 1 several cases. . National Bank ■ o,f Australasia, £5 paid, sold at £6 14s 6d and more . were wanted at £6 13s 6d. Australasias were steady at £l2 12s 6d, sellers holding for £l3. Commercial of Australia weto a shade firmer at 16s lid and Commercial of Sydney gained 2s at £l7 17s. National of New Zealand were unchanged at 82s. New Zealands cased to 465, and tho D long-term mortgage shares were oiforing at 32s 6d. There was a better inquiry for pastoral and financial shares, prices showing little change on late rates. Dalgetys were wanted at £lO 10s. and Goldsbrough Morts firmed to 29s 3d. Gas and insurance shares were again rather quiet, with 110 alteration in quotations. Moat and shipping shares wore steady and tlicye was a better inquiry for coal and timber shares. Breweries were quiet and easier. Now Zealands weakened to 355, sellers 36s 3d, and Tooths were a shade down at 41s lOd. Miscellaneous shares were firm and active. British tobaccos improved to 37s 9d end D.I.C. preference to 21s. Dunlop Pcrdriau Rul> bors sold at 19s and Howard Smiths at 13s. Sharlands, both issues, were 3d bettor at 22s 3d. Wilson’s Cement sold strongly at 27s 3d and 27s 4d. There was I a slightly better inquiry for mining shares, but prices were easy. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
