FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

ACORN LODGE, U.A.O.D. The usual fortnightly meeting of the above lodge was held last night in the Coronation Hall, Terrace. End. Members will learn with regret that Bros. Bedingfield, Bailey and Tucker are on the sick list and it is hoped their recovery will be speedy and complete. Invitations to social evenings were received from Oroua Lodge and the 1.0.0. F. A challenge to a bowls match from the 1.0. R. was accepted, it being left, to A.D. Bio, Richardson to make the (necessary arrangements. In conformity with the lodge syllabus a mock election was held, the issue being the chairmanship of the “Palmerston North Harbour Board.” The candidates, Messrs Arthur: 'arid Ayres, delivered spirited addresses . and . kept the hecklers at bay.' An enjoyable evening closed with a' vote of thanks to. the visitors.
