The death-rate from road accidents is higher in Johannesburg, Capetown, and Pretoria than in the six largest cities of Great Britain, the ratio bein" in Pretoria 30, in Johanensburg 247 and in Capetown 22 per 100,000. London’s figure is 15.4 per 100,000.
