“KICK” AT HEROES

TEACHING METHODS ASSAILED. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright.) Received October 27, 1.50 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 26. Lord Raglan, who, on September 9, startled the British Association by revelations in connection with pedigree fakers, took a running kick at heroes in history when addressing the Society of Friends. He said Scottish children were taught that an atrocious ruffian, William Wallace, was a chivalrous hero, which was deplorable. They must revise their teaching regarding such monsters of cruelty as Moses. Joshua and David, whose atrocities exceeded those alleged against the Germans in the World War. Children were brought up to believe the Englishman was superior to the Frenchman, and the European superior to the Asiatic. These were mischievous falsehoods. The Oriental was no more inscrutable than' the grocer. The savage was less childlike than a Test match enthusiast, Lord Raglan added.
