FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
LOYAL MANAWATU LODGE. The Loyal Manawatu Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., held its fortnightly meeting in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Thursday. A challenge was accepted from Court Hinemoa for a game of bowls to take' place on Monday evening next in the Friendly Societies’ Shield contest. Several of the surrounding sister lodges wrote accepting invitations to be present at the fifty-third anniversary of the lodge. One new member was initiated into the order. An invitation was received from the Wellington district to he present on the occasion of the presentation of the ritual shield to the winning lodge. The reports of the sick visitors were received; all the sick members are progressing favourably. A hearty welcome was extended to Bro. MclCnight, of the Shamrock, Rose, and Thistle Lodge, Invercargill. Bro. McKnight suitably responded. Nominations of officers for the lodge and district were proceeded with. Bro. Lyon was congratulated on his recent marriage. Accounts were passed for payment. The lodge was closed and members entertained at a dainty supper served by the sisters of the lodge, after which dancing and games were indulged in.
